About Us
There are millions of independent utility networks around the world still running on spreadsheets, clipboards and countless manual hours. We are building the technology platform to change that, bringing these networks into the digital age. From farm cooperatives in Zambia to entire cities in Kenya, our platform helps network owners monitor consumption in real time, bill accurately, give customers a modern digital experience and integrate clean energy sources and services.
At Network Nation, we take a contrarian view. While the energy tech sector chases big utilities in developed markets, we focus on the overlooked and underserved: independent networks and emerging markets that no one else is helping. We believe in building simple, no-nonsense technology to solve real problems. By doing so, we are digitising infrastructure and enabling clean energy for millions of families and businesses worldwide.
We are looking to hire a senior technical leader with both strategic and hands-on expertise across sensor/metering hardware, networking, protocols, and data acquisition/management. This person will be responsible for designing networks, and ensuring accurate, reliable, and regulatory-compliant acquisition of field data from electricity, water, or gas infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Define and own the overall telemetry and sensor data acquisition strategy
- Select and procure sensor/metering hardware and other physical equipment to meet customer requirements
- Manage deployment planning and field installation and commissioning processes
- Design and oversee the implementation of network health monitoring and alerting
- Ensure uptime, performance and data security
- Collaborate with software engineering to integrate sensor and meter data into the platform
What We're Looking For
- A pragmatic engineer who enjoys configuring hardware and building software
- Comfortable with a range of sensor and meter makes and models, networking and protocols (modbus, LoRaWAN, wireless MBus)
- A track record of designing robust and reliable networks, picking the right technology for the right problem
- Experience with any of electricity, water, or gas metering and data
- Passionate about exploring and testing the latest devices and communication technologies - we welcome hackers and tinkerers!
- Collaborative: enjoys working with product, commercial and leadership teams, and speaking to customers
- Happy to get hands dirty and solve problems wherever needed
Why Join Us
- Small team → big impact
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity
- Mission-driven work significantly improve utilities in underserved markets
